A bed race team has 5 members. Four runners, one on each bed corner, push the bed and remain in contact with the bed throughout the race, while one stays on the bed till the race ends.
Each team member must be 16 years or older. For the ‘Teen Division’ team, members must be 16-18 years old.
Costumes are fun but not required. Some of the teams wear spirit wear from their place of employment or their school. It would also be appropriate to dress for the holiday season.
Teams are encouraged to decorate their race beds, sponsor signage are welcome. All this makes for a fun event for participants, spectators and organizers.
Your drag style race will be scheduled for the day of the race. On the day before the sled race we see how many teams are entered and race times are then set. We either call or email the team captain with the time when your bed team will race. We work hard at honoring any specific time requests when teams register.
There is a traveling trophy for the fastest time. But the spirit of the day is to have fun and a sense of community while funding beds for children. There is a lot of laughter!
